Jeremy Cooke to address Entrepreneurs on the Move – Jan 31st at Lord Ashcroft International Business School

Jeremy Cooke is CEO of Gameware Europe Ltd., he has been employed at Board level in global games businesses for 30 + years, latterly as CEO/Studio Head/International Sales Director.  Jeremy set up effective European distribution for Activision, has negotiated and secured countless distribution and publishing deals, secured a plethora of grants and raised $m’s in equity funding for a number of  small – mid-size computer game development, publishing and distribution businesses.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                            Jeremy’s games industry career started around 1980 with the launch of “LET – Leisure Electronics Trader”- the very first UK computer games trade magazine and exhibition.  Since then, he has transitioned from Advertising/magazine Publishing through boxed product game/peripherals  distribution, game publishing and then to a 25 + year focus on product development.  His distribution employment was as International Sales Manager at MicroDealer and as M.D. of PSL Marketing Ltd. and The Software Business Ltd.  In 1996, he acquired his first dedicated game development studio – Teque London– a conversion house that he re-purposed as a focused driving game development studioThe studio developed Power F1” for Eidos, ”Grand Prix“ for Atari , “Road Rash GBA” and “Castrol Honda  Superbike Racing “ for EA.  “Castrol Honda Superbike World Champions”,  “Johnny Herbert’s Grand Prix”, “International Karting” and “ Silkolene Honda Moto cross “ were all developed for Midas prior to their acquisition of the studio in 2002 – where Jeremy became Group Managing Director for one year prior to his exit – acquiring the assets and IP of Creature Labs via holding company Gameware Europe and setting up the Gameware Development Ltd. studio in Cambridge.

GD delivered four series of the award winning ’ Bamzooki ‘  mixed reality TV gameshow for CBBC from 2004 – 2009 and became a first party Nokia developer 2004 – 2007.  In 2005, GD successfully applied for a patent for the HARVEE mobile augmented reality tech. The iPhone launched in 2007. GE began trading beyond it’s initial remit subsequent to the demise of GD.

In 2007 Jeremy set up and still Chairs Games Eden – the Cambridge centric game developer networking group for the East of England. He also sits on the Steering Committee for Creative East – which is coming to Cambridge in 2024 to support fledgling Creative companies with skills training and networking opportunities. He is a BAFTA member and former Director of TiGA.

Jeremy has always focused on leading edge technology development and GWE has participated as a collaborative partner in three EU H2020 projects – RAGE – Applied Gaming, REPLICATE – Photogrammetry and IV4XR – bot testing of XR environments 2015 – 2023.

Currently, Jeremy has three key areas of interest:

  • Hyper casual mobile game development and distribution via Android, Apple and Steam – coming soon to a screen near you in 2024 !
  • Business Development for Moviestorm Ltd. and their “FirstStage” VR based collaborative app creation toolkit
  • “Global Futures TV” – a ‘Tomorrows World’ meets ‘Top Gear’ magazine format TV show, showcasing digital and creative tech hubs.
