Dr Guy Newcombe is CEO at Archipelago Technology, www.archipelagotechnology.com , a Cambridge-based company focused on enabling the transition from plastic to sustainable paper and fibre-based packaging.  The company has derived the majority of its funding through customer revenues, licence fees and grants.  Its philosophy is to invent to solve well defined customer needs.

Guy studied physics at the Cavendish Laboratory, Cambridge, UK before embarking on a career in the world of inkjet and microfluidics.  In the course of the past 30 years Guy has created technology in piezo, electrostatic, continuous and pneumatic inkjet. Guy is a strong believer in developing talent and giving people responsibility early on.  As well as employing people directly, Archipelago runs five different development schemes for young engineers and scientists.

In the session Guy will cover why he started Archipelago, what makes it different, what he has learnt along the way and what he’d do differently.
