Nic Lawrence to address Entrepreneurs on the Move – Feb 28th at Lord Ashcroft International Business School (Room Lab 109)

Nic Lawrence is a Cambridge-based entrepreneur who started his first company, Light Blue Optics (LBO), straight out of university with three friends in 2004. Through the following 17-year lifecycle of the company, LBO went from being a Deeptech hardware company, raising one of the largest Series A tech investments of that time, to a technology licensing company, through to being a IoT product development company with outsourced manufacture in China and a SaaS-based revenue model, serving thousands of customers worldwide. The company, by that time rebranded as Kaptivo, was acquired in 2020 by Lifesize Inc., a US-based video-conferencing company.
Nic will talk about the lessons learned along this rollercoaster journey and offer suggestions to those starting out on their entrepreneurial adventures. He will also talk briefly about Genee – his latest startup – targeting a completely different market and customer base.
